When it was completed, Susan realized the space was simply too special to use to pot plants. So she and Paul decided to convert the shed into her design studio, adding a small mahogany deck that overlooks the water, and a wood stove that provides plenty of heat in the chillier months.

To cozy up the spot, they placed a desk under the rounded window, and added a wall-to-wall sisal rug, a wooden armoire to hold files, and a comfy armchair and ottoman in a sweet floral fabric.
