Fall-Weather Dressing
Autumn's unpredictable weather -- warm and humid one minute, cool and blustery the next --can make figuring out what to wear a challenge. Try these tricks to help you survive this ever-changing season in style:
Dress in layers
Wearing thin layers of clothing will help you keep comfortable as the temperature changes. For example, layer a silk shell, a lightweight cardigan, and a wool blazer. You can remove the blazer and cardigan as the day heats up.
Stick to versatile fabrics
Lightweight wools and crepes work well no matter what the season. Stock up on basics in these materials, then add pieces -- a turtleneck or twin set -- according to the temperature.
Add in summer pieces
Lighter clothing staples, such as a sleeveless shift dress or mules, can work well for this time of year. Pair the dress with a cardigan or wear the mules with crepe trousers to make them look appropriate for fall. --Lisa Kovalovich
