Where you know her from: She's the 33-year-old star of ABC's hit detective show, Castle, costarring Nathan Fillion. You can also check her out in the upcoming feature film CBGB, about New York City's legendary punk-rock club.
What's up with that name: The Canadian-born actress was named after her grandmother, Stana (pronounced STAH-na), who was from Croatia.
Her personal style: "It echoes my mood. If I don't want to draw too much attention to myself I'll wear all black. If I am being adventurous I may feel a really strong pull toward colors like cobalt blue and deep red."
The moment we knew she was cool: She supplied the tunes for our photo shoot, playing music on her iPhone. "I traveled to India recently and brought a playlist that had everything from classical to rock on it. I thought it would be great background music for the day with LHJ."
Her favorite piece of clothing...ever: "When I was little I got a rainbow dress that had little bells at the bottom. I loved it so much I wore it all the way through grade school. By the end it was more like a tank top."
How she makes a difference: Two years ago she cofounded the Alternative Travel Project to encourage people around the world to give up their cars one day a week and walk, ride bikes, or use public transportation instead. She also forgoes her car and walks an hour and a half each way to the Castle set once a week. "I'm dedicated to improving the environment and creating more of a community. You never know who you're going to meet when you are out for a walk."
