Dress Up Your Hair
The Accessory: A barrette or clip covered with fabric, crystals, or sequins. We like Goody Feather Flower Salon Clip in Silver (on model), $3.99.
How to Wear It: Arrange your hair in a bun or chignon, then secure the clip on one side so that it will be seen in profile. A barrette looks best along the base of the bun.
The Accessory: A headband, made with rich-looking fabrics such as velvet and satin. We like: Susan Daniels Gold Headband (shown), $41.25, and Goody Wide Crinkled Headband, $3.99
How to Wear It: Place the headband about 2 inches from the hairline and tilt it slightly forward so that it doesn't sit directly on top of the head, recommends Nathaniel Hawkins, celebrity stylist and spokesman for TRESemme. Feel free to allow your bangs or a few pieces of hair to fall along your forehead.
The Accessory: A hair elastic with a pretty ribbon, ornament or fine detailing. We like: Revlon Brooch Ponytailer (shown), $9.99 for a three-piece set, and Balu Ponyholder with silver bow, $21.25
How to Wear It: The trick behind this look is to secure your ponytail with a plain elastic first. Once it's in the proper position, set with hairspray and wrap the second elastic, the one with the decorative element, around your ponytail and position the ornament on either side.
