Straighten It

If you prefer to smooth away your spirals, don't go too flat. "When you get older, that poker-straight look is much too severe," says Ouidad. For a bouncy blowout, Kevin Mancuso, Nexxus creative director, likes to prep wet curls with a heat-protecting mousse. "It will give you lift at the roots and keep the ends smooth," he says. Clip hair into sections and blow until it's nearly dry, using a paddle brush. Switch to a round brush to polish the top layer and ends.
