A Seed of Hope

In 2002 three friends in Wilmington, Delaware, decide to enhance the look of their inner-city neighborhood. Marcia Stephenson, staffer at the Delaware Center for Horticulture, hair stylist Nicky DeAngelo, and bank-teller supervisor Janet Grayson find an empty city-owned lot and get permission to plant a garden there. The trio dig in, with the help of friends and neighbors and with plants contributed by the state's Department of Transportation.
